                 thermo‑insulating  mortar  system  for  masonry  and  plastering  based  on  inorganic  microspheres  for

                 new ceramic materials for modern clean energy generation techniques (components for fuel cells wih
                   solid electrolyte SOFC – electrolyte, electrodes, interconnectors;
            4.  Researches in the field of development and characterization of ceramic biomaterials and of some products
                based on ceramic biomatarials:
                 biocompatible ceramic materials based on calcium phosphate (β‑TCP; HAP and HAP/TCP composites) for
                   medical applications – orthopedic and maxillofacial surgery, bone reconstruction (ceramic microspheres
                   and 3D structures);
                 oxidic and non‑oxidic ceramic biomaterials for medical devices.
            5. Expertise in the molding of ceramic parts by different technologies:
                 single axis pressing;
                 extruding;
                 injection molding under pressure;
                 spark plasma sintering (SPS).
            Expertise Areas in 2019
            The laboratory is part of the Department of Carbo‑Ceramic Materials and has the following areas of expertise:
            1. Research for the production and characterization of materials and components for electrotechnics / electrical
            engineering:
                 modified PZT type piezoceramic materials;
                 piezoceramic materials for high power applications (ultrasonic motors, electromechanical transducers
                   etc.);
                 piezoelectric active elements for micromotors with low speeds and high axial loads;
                 electrically conductive ceramic materials based on zirconium oxide with various dopants.
            2.  Research for the production and characterization of ceramic materials for energy applications:
                ceramic materials for solid electrolyte (SOFC) fuel cell components;
                 ceramic microspheres for thermal insulation materials.
            3. Research for the production and characterization of materials with special and environmental applications:
                 hydroxyapatite type ceramic materials (PAH) used as adsorbents of heavy metals from contaminated
                   environments;
                 composite  ceramic  materials  (hydroxyapatite‑chitosan)  used  as  heavy  metal  adsorbents  from
                   contaminated environments;
                 systems  of  thermal  insulation,  masonry  mortars  and  plasters  based  on  inorganic  microspheres  for
                   building protection works;
                 new ceramic materials for modern techniques for generating clean energy (components for fuel cells
                   with solid electrolyte SOFC‑electrolyte, electrodes, interconnectors).
            4. Research for the production and characterization of ceramic biomaterials and products based on ceramic
            biomaterials:
                 biocompatible ceramic materials based on calcium phosphates (β‑TCP; PAH and PAH / TCP composites)
                   for medical applications ‑ orthopedic and maxillofacial surgery, bone reconstruction (ceramic microspheres
                   and 3D structures);
                 Oxide and non‑oxide ceramic biomaterials for medical devices.
            5. Services:
                 shaping ceramic pieces through various technologies: uniaxial pressing; extrusion; injection molding;
                   plasma jet sintering (SPS);
                 materials and techniques for ceramic coatings: ceramic targets made of ceramic materials (calcium
                   phosphates, ZnO, PZT, modified PZT, modified PT) for techniques such as PLD, magnetron‑sputtering;
                 heat treatment services for ceramic parts in electric ovens or by SPS technique;
                 performing rheology measurements for various materials (ceramic slips, polymer solutions, oils, etc.);
                 consultancy in the field of ceramic materials and technologies.
